No. People come to CrossFit to get healthy! The only requirements are that you have a positive attitude, a willingness to work hard, to learn new things, and have the desire and passion to let us help you reach your fitness goals. You will succeed and see great results. We want to coach anyone desiring to get into the best shape of their lives.
All you need are comfortable clothes, training/gym/running shoes, and a water bottle. We provide everything else you will need. Your clothes should allow for a full range of motion.
Classes are one-hour long. We start with a dynamic group warm-up that is designed to get you warm, get your blood pumping, and your muscles loose. After the warm-up we typically spend 15-20 minutes working on developing skills or building strength. Depending on that day’s focus, you might see barbell work, gymnastic work, plyo boxes, kettlebells, jump rope, and even running mechanics.
After that comes the ‘Workout of the Day’ or WOD. Before we yell “3…2…1…GO” we go over all the movements and offer guidance towards the proper scaling of each exercise. After answering all your questions, we start the workout and a coach is always watching each person to be sure they stay safe and motivated.
After the WOD, we cool-down and stretch and then you’re free to go!
Yes! Despite what you might have heard or seen on TV, CrossFit is beneficial for all ages and experience levels. In our gym you’ll find everyone from former college athletes, to members who are exercising for the first time.
The beauty of CrossFit is that it is extremely scaleable. Two athletes can perform the same workout with different movements, equipment, and weights depending on their fitness and skill level.
Although it is impossible to say there are never any injuries, as you can get hurt from any physical fitness training program, your safety and well being is our top priority. We always make sure that our athletes are performing movements with proper mechanics and consistency before we ever up the intensity. We use only professional equipment which is properly serviced and maintained. And you are always under the watchful eye of our coaches the entire time you are in our class.
It is impossible to predict exactly how fast individuals may progress. Everyone progresses at different speeds and in different ways depending on a variety of factors including commitment and consistency, age, health histories, genetics, nutrition, sleep habits, life stress, etc.
A good rule of thumb is that most people start to see real results around the 3-4 month mark as long as they’re being consistent in their training and nutrition.
