Officer Craig Lehner’s life was taken during a tragic accident while he was training with the Underwater Recovery Team of the Buffalo Police force in the Niagara River.

As a part of the dive team, Lehner dove off of Bird Island Pier on Friday, October 13, 2017. Soon after, he went missing beneath the rushing currents of the river.

At 4:48 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2017, the end of watch call went out over Buffalo Police radios for Officer Craig Lehner. Today, we WOD in his honor.

Lehner, 34, was a nine-year member of the Buffalo Police force. He served in the K-9 Unit with his dog, Shield, named after Officer James Shields, who was killed in a car accident while responding to a burglary call in 2002.
